Independent and feisty, Shea Madison has a tussle on her hands. Living in and loving her quiet little corner of Montana, she’s fiercely determined to fight a real estate developer trying to turn her quaint little mountain town into a touristy ski resort. So, when an outsider shows up to study the effects on the area, she instantly attempts to sway his impression… even if it means a little harmless flirting with the enticing visitor.
Rhys Weland’s charade has one purpose—to bring the locals around to the idea of the resort, primarily the ringleader, Ms. Shea Madison. Embroiled in his deception, he’s stunned by the feelings she draws from deep inside him. Her integrity and sincerity quickly have him second-guessing his twisted morals. Her spirit arouses his soul. Her sensuality steals his breath.
In the dark of the night, in the warmth of the fire, the passion smoldering between them combusts. But just when it all seems to make sense, one small stubborn mistake shreds the fragile bond between them. Will an impetuous act reignite their flame, or will their love vanish like sparks in the air?
Shea has to be one of the best heroines out there, my god I loved her. Definitely the first heroine I've come across who is one of kind, there was no needless back and forth, woe is me or unnecessary drama. In fact it was all rather straight to the point, she was all no nonsense, sensible and completely down to earth. When her home as well as her town's is under threat she stands strong, refusing to give up the fight even when it seems like all might be lost. I loved her dedication to the cause, it wasn't all about simply her home but she was worried about everyone, constantly trying to rally support and do whatever she could to save them. Then enters Rhys. I'll get to him in a minute, but in regards to Shea he was a serious spanner in her hard work. While she opened his eyes, he opened her eyes to the loneliness within her life. Sure she believed she was better off alone with her little cabin in the woods, with her big ass dog and one her best friend's little family. But was she really as content as she appeared? Rhys broke through all her walls bit by but, and it was entertaining as hell to watch her crumble. She comes across so burly and fierce, so when that fire is turned into passion well I guess you could say it was beautiful.
" I don't want to want you," she murmured desperately.
"You're trouble for me."
" Rhys, all I want is right now. I want to sit here with you in the firelight. I want you to kiss me and to hold me."
"You are stubborn and feisty. But, for some fucked up reason, I see you face when I close my eyes."
" You really have no idea, do you?"....
"How beautiful you are..You rendered me speechless when you first stripped off all your winter gear that night we met."
